2010 Spring Masters Message I am pleased to report that 2010 has begun with a good start. As we have seen the recent Eagle Scout Program has greatly enhanced the appearance of our Lodge Room. For those who have not seen the efforts of the local Eagle Scouts led by Doug Demaine along with the combined work of a group of our brothers, the lodge room has a new color and look. Special thanks to W.B Dave Klein for his fabrication and installation of the shelving to raise the Eastern star and Rainbow signs up on the wall. As many of you know we are in the process of raising six new brothers in our winter/spring sessions. We also expect one brother who for medical reasons was not able to complete his MM degree in 2006 to join us in April to make the total # of new Master masons at that time to be seven. Come out and join us for one of our degree nights. If you have been away for a period of time and need a little assistance in review of the signs don’t hesitate to call me or one of the other officers for a little one on one help. Many brothers were unable to attend the Super bowl Party, or the Valentines Dinner/Widows Night, and I will say that you missed out. For all of the brothers that have not participated in our recent events, let me advise you that the current kitchen staff is exceptional and you are missing great food along with great fellowship. Grand Lodge has appointed our own P.M.Maury Heim as the next District Deputy for our District, and a ceremony to acknowledge this new appointment has been scheduled for April 17, 2010. Dinner will follow the ceremony which is open to the public, and all are invited to attend. Please notify the Junior Warden (Isack Wasserman), or myself if you intend to join us so that we can properly plan refreshments. On a personal note I would like to thank all the current officers, past masters and the brothers at large for their continued help and support to both myself and the Lodge as a whole. Washington Lodge has always had a great and diversified membership that has shown all the best qualities of masonry, and I continue to see the best rise to the top when called for or needed. I continue in my personal quest to reach out to every member of the lodge during my year as master, and am actively pursuing that effort. I have been encouraged by the response of the members that I have reached so far, and I apologize to those that I have not reached to date, you are not forgotten. I will continue to reach out to all and as I stated in my last message I am available for your suggestions or comments and am looking forward to either calling out to or receiving a call from all of you. I hope this year finds you all in good health and good cheer. Respectfully Paul G. Knecht Worshipful Master 2010. |
