From The East - Spring 2008
My Brothers, Our Year is off to a good start. We had an EA degree in February. At the March stated communication, we made our newly admitted brother a Fellow Craft and we read three candidate petitions. I have planned to make our Brother Fellow Craft a Master Mason at a special communications scheduled for April 26, 2008 at Ashlar of Newtown. Ashlar of Newtown was selected for this degree so that resident brothers of Ashlar of Newtown can participate and enjoy an afternoon of fellowship. Please see the Trestle Board Meeting & Events for further details.

This year I would like to continue some of the programs we have enjoyed in the past. We intend to once again work with Masuk High School to select a worthy student to send off to college with a PC. We have done this for the past two years and we hope to continue it into the future.

Additionally, we will be scheduling a CHIPS Program. The Child Identification Program is always well received and a very important event for anyone with children in our community. Last year we processed

58 children in Monroe and another 100 in Trumbull. I hope to see many of you at this event to assist in our work.

In October, we are planning a trip to Washington DC to see the many sights and visit the Washington Masonic Memorial as well as have lunch at Gatsby’s Tavern in Alexandria, VA. Gatsby’s is where Brother George Washington would dine and the upper room, in those days, was the Lodge Room. More information about this will be sent out before summer.

In closing my brothers, I ask for your help this year in strengthening our lodge. I also ask that you call me and give me your thoughts on what you would like to see our lodge do for the brotherhood and the community. Lastly, I ask that we treat each other in the Masonic tradition which we all subscribe to.

Sincerely & Fraternally,

Maury Heim
