From the East - Fall 2008
THE MASTERS MESSAGE

The Autumn Season is upon us and we look forward to the holidays and the closing out of another year. During the previous quarters of 2008, we have raised 4 brothers to the Sublime Degree of Master Mason. We recently made 5 candidates Masons and we look forward to watching them continue their path to Master Mason this year.

I want to take this opportunity to thank my officers for their help in making my year as master an easier one. I look forward to watching your advancement to the east. I also want to thank our newest Master Masons, including Patrick Canny, David Schultz, Isack Wasserman, Bob Walsh and Andy Hallis for jumping in and becoming actively involved in this wonderful organization. I look forward to seeing you all grow in Masonry. As R.W. Brother Wayne Saunders always reminds new Master Masons: “ You get out of Masonry what you put into it.” Based on what I am seeing, you will get a lot out of Masonry!

Lastly, to all my Brothers of Washington #19, I would like to see more of you get involved in our work. I’m not asking that you take a chair and begin your journey to the east. (Although I would encourage all to think about that. It is never too late to begin the journey.)

What I am asking you to do is come out to the Stated Communications. Come to Breakfast on the 3rd Sunday of every month. Come to the Venison Table Lodge in November. (Tickets are still available).

Support your Lodge and the Brothers who have agreed to begin their journey to the east.

We recently held a Warranted Communications for the for the purpose of deciding whether we should raise our dues and by how much. All received a special letter at least 30 days prior to the meeting describing what was to take place and encouraging you to attend.

Out of approximately 180 brothers in our Lodge, 18 were present for the meeting; 10% of the Brothers of Washington Lodge #19 made a decision for all.

My Brothers, please do not let apathy bring down this lodge that has been in existence since 1791. Come to meetings, make your voice heard. GET INVOLVED.

Thank you for allowing me to be Master of Washington Lodge #19. I cannot think of a greater honor than that of serving this great Lodge.

May the final months of 2008 find you and your families well and prosperous.

Sincerely & Fraternally,
Maury Heim
